Have punctuation errors in court papers changed sentencing for a convicted defendant?

Years ago I read that a misused colon or comma changed the severity of charges resulting in a lessened penalty in a criminal case. I can't find reference to this case and would like to use it to explain the importance of correct punctuation. This happened in Baltimore, but I am sure it has happened elsewhere.
